Line Locating, Marking & Depth of Cover Survey Support
Where any maintenance activities or third-party works are being undertaken in the proximity of pipelines, it is important to ensure that assets are properly identified and marked, in order to safeguard company facilities.
Pipeline CC are able to undertake line locating & marking. Our employees are fully trained and competent in the effective use of line locating equipment. In addition, ensuring assets have sufficient depth of cover in accordance with industry standards is essential.
Management and maintenance of depth of cover over time and therefore conducting periodic depth of cover surveys should form part of the maintenance management plan for asset operators.
Pipeline CC are able to undertake depth of cover surveys for pipelines. Records of depth of cover surveys can also be transferred to our GIS based data collection tool (see link) to enable trending of your surveys.
A pipe locator should be used in instances where:

Observed Modification
Any observed modification in the pipeline depth of cover, due to natural (e.g. erosion) or man-made cause has been identified.

Infringements
Infringements affecting the easement zone have been identified.

Third-Party Works
Third-Party works affecting the pipeline right of way. For such a process, it is critical that patrollers use a combination of line-locator tool with a signal transmitter, in order to accurately identify the depth of cover and position of the pipeline.
